BCARS Meeting Minutes - June 5th, 2025

A meeting of the Bedford County Amateur Radio Society was called to order at 1930 hours at Bedford American Legion by President Zachary Pepple and a quorum was declared.

In attendance were (9):

KB3DFZ, KC3HKZ, KC3KHK, K3QNT, WB3JEK, KA3UDR, KE3ZT, W3DRW, K3SCM

Meeting Minutes were presented by John KB3DFZ. Motion to approve was made by W3DRW and seconded by KA3UDR.

No Treasurer Report was given.

Old Business

Bloody Run Float - Discussion about flooding and conditions affecting the event.

County Funding - Lloyd K3QNT presented an update. K3QNT did discuss county funding with the commissioners recently, but will follow back up.

Repeater Update - There is an potential offer for a free repeater in exchange for some antenna access. KB3DFZ will follow up and see what can be arranged.

New Business

Field Day - As the path to Blankely Park is not well known, Bernie W3DRW will put ribbons out to highlight when to turn off or 336. Emails will be sent out to organize food, radios, and other supplies needed for field day. There will be no electricity. John/KB3DFZ has offered to bring a generator. K3QNT confirms we will be operating as an F class station. Discussion was had around having a “tailgate” hamfest.

Amateur Radio Month KB3DFZ presented a proclamation from Governor Josh Shapiro declaring June 2025 as “Amateur Radio Month”.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2030 hours.
