BCARS Meeting Minutes - August 6th, 2026

A meeting of the Bedford County Amateur Radio Society was called to order at 1930 hours at Bedford American Legion by Vice President Gary Metivier and a quorum was declared.

In attendance were (10): John KB3DFZ, Kip K3IP, Gary KC3KHK, Steve KE3ZT, Bernie W3DRW, Lloyd K3QNT, Steve KA3UDR, Ellis KC3WMI, Jay K3SCM, Kenny WB3JEK

Meeting Minutes were presented by John KB3DFZ. Motion to approve was made by KA3UDR and seconded by W3DRW. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report was presented by Lloyd K3QNT. Motion to approve was made by W3DRW, seconded by KA3UDR.

Old Business

Field Day: KB3DFZ discussed field day scoring. 2048 total points.

Lost Turkey: Was discussed. It went very well, everyone was able to use the BCARS 145.490 repeater. Keith from the race committee thanked us for the help.

Van Inspection The van passed, but the alternator is not charging the battery and may need some work done with the regulator.

New Business

Picnic spot has been decided. Shawnee Park Pavilion #3 on August 23rd, 2026. There will be power at the pavilion.

October 3rd is the coffee pot special event station. KE3ZT will hand out some information next month about the coffee pot. We will be operating 3 bands for 12 hours on bands 15, 20, and 40 meters. Recommended frequencies will be in QST.

The meeting was adjourned at 2000 hours.
